Our P&C Agent
Kenny Pickard
was born on a farm near Rutland, SD and grew up in the Colman, SD area where
his parents farmed and operated a dairy.
Kenny graduated from Colman High School and started a trucking business in addition to
his responsibilities to the family farm, all of which were interrupted by a call from Uncle Sam.*
Still proud to be an American, Kenny returned to farming, trucking, and raising a family in
Brookings County, SD.
In 1997 as the result of a work related accident Kenny was unable to return to his love for the
highways, and the fields and feedlots between them.
After some retraining and job searching, Kenny was employed by the agent in the
local office of one of the best insurance companies in the United States.
Soon after, Kenny became a licensed agent, writing new business and servicing existing accounts.
Due to some local reorganization two years later, the employing agent left the company for
other pursuits and with encouragement from this employer and clients,
Kenny signed on with the finest insurance company in South Dakota and has enjoyed working for
and with De Smet Farm Mutual Insurance Co. and the personnel who together work to
provide the protection you need for your property and the perils that you may experience.
* Kenny and his four brothers were all five in military uniform during the Vietnam conflict.
God bless Mom and Dad!
Still proud to be American and humbly grateful to the Almighty, each of the five brothers returned home!
